Censoring Sex Vs. Violence?
Why is is that American society regards consensual sex (something that pretty much everyone not only engages in, but has a strong drive to actively seek) as something to be more censored than acts of violence and cruelty. (something pretty much every society claims to distain)
Basically I'm asking.
Why are moms more horrified/disturbed if they catch children are pretending their barbie dolls / gi joes are having sex than if they catch them simulating warfare with army men, or pretending to shoot each other with guns.
Why is our rating system designed so that it's more acceptable for teenagers to sneak in and see a movie like hostel depicting torture but not and NC-17 movie because it has too many tits?
Why was there more controversy for the consensual sex in Grand Theft Auto's Hot Coffee Mod than there was for the fact that for the past 2 games before that you could steal cars, gun innocent people down, and use chainsaws on pregnant women for fun.

I think its because of the past few wars we've been de-sensitized towards violence, where as talking about sex in public is more of a recent thing.
If you want more detail, wars this century began in 1914, where as the sexual revolution began in the 1960s.
