Barbie Dolls - history of the most popular doll in history

In 1959, the first Barbie doll was presented at the International Toy Fair in New York. Announced as "New '59 Barbie doll: A shapely teenage fashion Model Price: $ 3.00." Thus was born the Barbie doll phenomenon, which is undoubtedly one of the biggest success stories in the manufacture of toys. Before Barbie dolls almost all children were dolls of the child rather than figures adult. Barbie has changed all that.

In 1945, Elliot and Ruth Handler was associated with Harold Matson for manufacturing of picture frames. The two names Matson and Elliot combined to form the name of the company Mattel. Elliot used the picture frame wood waste to make dollhouse furniture. This was the beginning of the furniture business driver.

About this time Ruth noticed that her daughter Barbara and friends preferred to play with paper dolls adult rather than child or baby dolls. The doll was patented by Mattel in 1958 and introduced in 1959. She would become one of the most popular toys and beloved ever made.

Barbie soon became a doll and collectors eagerly sought by collectors adults. From 1959 to 1972, the Barbie doll had seven different changes in their appearance and design. These Barbies made to 1972 are recognized as vintage collectible dolls for their fans and are highly sought. The 1959 Barbie in mint condition sell for thousands of dollars. Some have sold as much as $ 8000 to $ 10.000, but can be purchased for much less and $ 2000 to $ 3000 is quite common. Later editions look proportionately less. Dolls made in the period 1969 to 1972 and can often be purchased for a few dollars. Garage sales and flea markets are still the source of some of the early dolls. About 300,000 of the 1959 Barbie were made and no doubt there are many out there still undiscovered.
