A brief history of paper

The papyrus is made of sections cut from the stem of the flower of the papyrus plant, tight and dry, and then used to writing or drawing. Papyrus appeared in Egypt around 2400 BC

A courtier named Ts'ai-Lun, from Lei-yang in China, was first reported inventor of paper to 105 AD Ts'ai-Lun work presented and the process of papermaking to the Chinese emperor and was observed in the records of the imperial court. There may have been making paper in China before the earlier date, but the inventor Ts'ai-Lun did a lot for the spread of paper manufacturing technology in China.

The ancient Chinese first paper in the following way.

• Vegetable fibers such as hemp soaked and beaten into a sludge
• The slurry is strained through a wire sieve attached to a frame that also served as a platform for drying the resulting paper

Newsprint

Charles Fenerty of Halifax made the first wood pulp paper (newsprint) in 1838. Charles Fenerty was helping a local paper mill to maintain an adequate supply of poverty in the manufacture of paper, when he managed the production of wood pulp paper. He forgot to patent his invention and others did the manufacturing paper patent based on wood fiber.

In 1874, G. Smyth built the first single-sided corrugated cardboard making machine. Also in 1874, Oliver Long improved patent and invented Jones lined corrugated cardboard.

The first recorded historical reference in a paper bag was made in 1630. The use of paper bags only really started to take off during the Industrial Revolution: between 1700 and 1800.

Margaret Knight (1838-1914) was an employee in a factory bags paper when they invented a new machine part to fund square paper bags. Paper bags envelopes had been somewhat earlier. Knight can be considered the mother of the shopping bag, he founded the Society of Paper Bag East in 1870.

On February 20, 1872, Luther Crowell patented a machine also that manufactures paper bags.

Paper Plates

In foodservice disposable paper products were first made in the early 20. The dish paper was the first single use of the gastronomic product invented in 1904.

Dixie Cups

Hugh Moore was an inventor who owned a factory paper cups, which is located next to the Dixie Doll Company. The Dixie word was printed on the door of the company's dolls. Moore saw the word every day, reminding him to "Dixie," the ten dollar banknotes from a New Orleans bank that had the French "Dix" printed on the face of the bill. The bank had a reputation in 1800. Moore decided that "Dixie" was a great name. After getting permission from his neighbor to use the name, changed the name of his paper cups "Dixie Cups".
