Halloween Crafts For Kids

Cost for kids Halloween party?

I'm thinking of having a Halloween party for 2 of my 3 kids~ 1 in 4th grade & 1 in Kindergarten~ * my other baby will be only be 11 months*. Thinking about 40 kids invited (knowing not all will show) But am planning on making homemade candles for the parents of the kids attending. How much should I spend on decorations & Treats. I don't wanna give out to much candy since they will get a bunch Trick-or-Treating. As a kid I never had any kind of party so I'm just wondering about the decorations & treats for these ages. Thanks Bunches. P.S. If you have any craft ideas the kids can do, let me know.

If the kids will be going TrickOrTreating I would personally forgo the candy (not including candy needed for crafts) and just serve snacks/treats - candy can get expensive! If you decide to use candy I would suggest buying it from Sam's or the Dollar Tree if there is one in your area. You don't have to go overboard on the decorations either. Use mood lighting, eery music and a few homemade decorations like the ones listed below:

I found this web site ( http://www.hauntproject.com/ ) some time ago and am thankful that I did! There are plenty of Do It Yourself project ideas with tutorials and many of them are fairly inexpensive.

For snacks you could serve popcorn in clear plastic gloves and put candy corns in the finger tips to serve "monster hands", Worms On A Bun ( http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/special/recipe/famf0900worms/ ) - can also be made with veggie dogs for guests who don't eat meat, cupcakes with orange and black sprinkles or icing, floating eyeballs in Fruit Punch, Spider Pops ( http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/special/recipe/famf0900spiderpop/ ), ect.

Simple crafts/games that the kids can enjoy:

Monster masks:
Buy a stack of inexpensive paper plates, string, a box of Crayons/markers and tape (all can be found at a Dollar General store if there is one in your area).

Bobbing for Apples:
Take the stems off of the apples before tossing them into the water. Keep towels/paper towels handy. I would recommend using McIntosh Apples or maybe even plums because they are softer and will be easier for the kids to bite into.

Pumpkin Toss:
On the day of the party, cut a large hole in the top of a pumpkin. Scrape and clean out the pumpkin. Have the kids line up and take turns tossing candy bars into the pumpkin. Whoever tosses their candy into the pumpkin gets to keep it.

Pin The Tail On The Cat:
Print out a large picture of a black cat, cut out the tail and have the kids try to pin the tail onto the cats body.
