what's the difference between the undead and the living dead?
i know a zombie is classified as the living dead and a vampire would probably be classified as an undead creature, but what's/where's the border between being the undead and the living dead?
That was just a play on words which the author of the story used in order to try to distinguish the character of both the Vampires and the Zombies.
Originally, both Vampires and Zombies were dead before they were re-animated. The Vampire was re-animated by a Vampire which drank the blood of the buried corpse. Since the corpse was not fully alive it had to become a vampire in order to meet demand of its body for blood which was taken by the original Vampire.
The Zombie was dug up and re-animated by a Voodoo practitioner. The only need it has was human flesh to keep going. For effect the author decided that it would be best nourished by eating brains.
So in effect the only difference is their diet or what they needed to keep existing in the world.
