From my study and according to my recollection. Hair weaves have been in use since the 80's and became highly standard in the mid to late 90's. Anyhow most women would not at any time admit to using a hair weave during those times. Largely because it was considered to be "fake" and who wants a women that is imitation. Now by the end of the 90's hair weaves became so popular and common, particularly among the african american public that almost every man knew what they were and almost every man could identify a women that was wearing a weave. this also meant that it was becoming essentially more common, and talked about in the open.

So what are the advantages and disadvantages of the hair weave? Lets first analyze in more detail what a hair weave is. The hair weave is a long row or several rows of hair be it human or synthetic that is connected together in to what is called a track that is generally sewn or glued at the top to keep the track together. The classic installation of a hair weave means that single or many tracks of hair will be sewn onto or glued to you existing hair in a form that is difficult for someone to see unless they go probing around in your scalp. The trouble with this is that your actual hair can and will become damaged from the adhesive and or the sewing. If rendered inadequately your hair will appear "a mess" a bad weave will mainly look like your hair is super condensed, unnaturally crowded and the tracks will be inescapable. Another disadvantage of hair weaves are the styling limitations, once the weave has been established it is complicated to modify the style without exposing your tracks and looking very bad. There are not to many advantages not for for the low price, and the fact that essentially any salon will know how to install a hair weave.

Now fast forward to the full lace wig. What is a full lace wig and or a front lace wig? This is a wig that has hair sewn into a thin lace cap that is mostly (if your smart) the identical or similar color as your skin, the hair is inserted into the cap in an approach that mimmics the way hair grows out of your scalp (one strand at a time), and the thin skin matching colored lace is formed to mimmic the look of your scalp. In the case of the full lace wig this lace is through out the entire cap of the wig, but in the instance of the front lace wig, you will only find this lace on the forward section of the wig around the hair line and just a couple inches back from there. Ther rear section of the front lace wig will be handcrafted like a standard machine weft type wig. The front lace wig was handcrafted to keep overhead down and still bring a very natural look. These wigs are mostly established with an adherent, for the MOST natural look, but as of lately some companies have been installing small combs into the wig so adhesives wont be necessary, however it does not look as natural as an adherent installation.

The advantages and disadvantages of the lace style wigs contain the following. Full lace wigs if accomplished correctly are VERY complicated to detect, even when you have a close focus, it looks very natural, it can be styled in many different ways without compromise, and it is better for your genuine hair as you do not need to put adherent on your hair. The disadvantages of full lace wigs are the cost as they can cost anywhere from $200 dollars to $2000 for anything of thoughtful quality using human hair (you would be foolish to think you can get good quality for anything less than $200).

Your cherished celebrities are all using full lace wigs. Why? Because the reasons established above, it looks so very normal and can be formulated many different ways. After all they have an image to up hold. I personally believe that talk show host Wendy Williams may be responsible for the ever growing recognition of the full lace wig, as she is constantly raving about how terrific they are and how she uses them often.
